Ivey DeJesus of PennLive/Patriot-News covered RVAT’s swing-state bus tour:
Traveling in a chartered bus decked out in blue and emblazoned with the group’s name, the group made a stop at a Sheetz in Harrisburg, giving the dozen or so voters traveling with the group and a couple of high-profile Republican strategists the opportunity to answer questions from the media and shake hands with people who happened to be passing by.
[Dave] McHenry [a bus tour participant] said it took him about 10 months after Jan. 6, 2021, to realize he “had been had” and to realize what he had been defending against his liberal friends had been, indeed, an insurrection.
“I‘m doing what I think is right for my country,” said McHenry, wearing a blue Republican Voters Against Trump cap. “Even though I‘m still a Republican, I have to do the right thing for my kids, my grandkids and for the next generation.”
McHenry is part of the “flipper” contingency of Republican voters who are abandoning their support for Trump, and speaking out about it.
