Part of our largest campaign to date, the blitz will target swing voters in the critical Blue Wall state with billboards and ads saying: “I’m a former Trump voter. I’m voting for Harris.”

WASHINGTONTuesday, September 3, 2024 – Republican Voters Against Trump launched a new $3 million Michigan ad blitz featuring ads and billboards showcasing former Trump voters from MI who will not support him this election. This is part of a broader $11.5 million swing state campaign in September, our largest campaign to date this cycle.

The campaign will run through the end of the month in the Grand Rapids and Detroit media markets. It includes this 30-second compilation ad featuring multiple former Trump voters talking about why they now support Harris. It also includes several testimonial ads of former Trump voters talking about why they are not supporting him this time, including Jackie from Stockbridge.

In Michigan, video ads will run on broadcast and cable TV, streaming platforms, and YouTube, alongside radio ads. The campaign also features 19 billboards showing former Trump voters from Michigan, with the messages: “I’m a former Trump voter. I won’t vote for Trump” and “I’m a former Trump voter. I’m voting for Harris.” You can view the billboards’ locations here.

“Donald Trump has destroyed the Republican Party,” said Sarah Longwell, Executive Director of Republican Voters Against Trump. “And every election cycle he drives more and more Republicans to vote for Democrats, because they believe Donald Trump and the GOP candidates who imitate him are unfit for office. We help elevate the voices of these disaffected Republicans and build a permission structure for many other traditional GOP voters to reject Donald Trump and his MAGA movement, even if it means voting for Democrats with whom they might have policy differences.”

This content has been tested for its persuasive value and was selected to appeal to a core constituency of voters in the swing states: conservative-leaning independents and Republicans who are still undecided. By reaching them with messengers who look and sound like them, we are helping to build a permission structure to broaden the coalition that ultimately delivered victory in the last election.
