“No matter who runs against them, I think we’re better off.”
“ My name is Alex. You know, I’m a former Trump supporter.
“And in 2016 I voted for Donald Trump. I always thought that before when Trump was talking about running for president in ’15, I always, I kind of laughed.
“I was like, I don’t want him as my president. But you know, the more I thought about it, you know, I thought a strong business sense, he might be somebody who can shake things up and do a good job leading the country.
“A couple of years at his office, I thought he was doing a good job until the COVID-19 pandemic hit. The way he handled that, he just brushed it off on the governors of individual states and said, yeah, you handled it, it’s your problem. And then mocked governors who had to make unpopular decisions, he did not display good leadership at all during the COVID-19 pandemic. Towards the end of his election, I started slipping more and more. You know, he was associating with people that I absolutely despise. You know, these white supremacists, you know, leaders of the Oath Keepers and the proud boys.
“People like Alex Jones, conspiracy theorists, you know, people that, you know, any president of mine, I don’t want them associating with people like that.
“I reluctantly voted for him again. He lost to Joe Biden and his actions after that defeat were just appalling. You know, the insurrection on January 6th and then his claim that the election were stolen and just the way he is been acting ever since. That, you know, manifesting, hatred and, contempt in people, his supporters, and then some of his supporters that are in the government. And just his supporters in general.
“I mean, you know, these people are crazy. He’s just going to give them free reign and do whatever they want. You know, people like Marjorie Taylor Green and, you know. And other people within the government and then, you know, just his MAGA supporters just elsewhere. Plus I’m concerned he is gonna, you know, jeopardize our alliances with our NATO allies and, with other allies around the world.
“I spent 20 years in the military, you know, four years active duty, Navy.
“And then 16 years in the reserves in the National Guard and, you know, I defended democracy and I don’t wanna see that get taken away from me. Our country deserves better than that. No matter who runs against him, I think we’re better off. And, you know, I’ve heard all those stories about Kamala, you know, I’ve heard that she’s a, you know, far left extremist and all that, and I believe all the rhetoric about her and all that.
“But, you know, the more I learn about her, the more I realize that’s not true. I mean, yeah, she might be, you know, more on the liberal side. But, you know, I think she’s a very strong leader and I think she can do a lot for this country. A lot of positive things for the country. And I hope that she gets elected that she doesn’t let us down. But, you know, I’m willing to take my chances with her than I am with another Trump presidency.”
