“Hello, my name is Hillary. I’m from Newport Beach, California. I am a Regretful 2016 Donald Trump voter. I did not vote for him in the primaries, but I did cast my ballot for him in the 2016 general election, mainly out of concern for what Hillary Clinton administration would do, having been someone in their twenties who’d lived through the Clinton years of the 1990s. So that was my general concern. The other aspect of that was I thought that a lot of the bombast was just shtick Trump was using during 2016 to attract a certain kind of voter, probably a lower information voter than I consider myself to be as somebody who’s always been pretty well read and deeply involved, but I admit to my naivete and I’ve been paid back for it, as the country was, during his administration. I did not vote for him in 2020, and I did not vote for Joe Biden either, as a lifelong Republican I couldn’t bear to do that. So I went ahead and I wrote in another candidate.

“However, January 6th was the capper and any respect that I had for the Republican party was gone. Unfortunately, I’m homeless, but I know there’s a lot of homeless people, refugees from what was, at one time, the Ronald Reagan Republican Party, it exists no more in 2024.

“I will be affirmatively casting my vote for Joe Biden. As I say, I’m not a Democrat. I subscribe to small c conservatism, smaller government. But I do believe that this is a hinge point election and I would encourage anybody who cares about the existence of living in a democratic republic to go ahead and cast their vote for Joe Biden. You can not like his policies like I do. You can have some concerns, wide ranging bit of concerns, but the bottom line is I believe that a vote for Donald Trump may very well be the end of the republic is we know it, and once a liberal democracy is gone, who knows if it’ll come back.”
