“I cannot in good conscience vote for anyone who would threaten to suspend the Constitution.”
“My name is Jeanne. I am a retired sailor who lives in Virginia, and I voted for Trump in 2016. As the election for 2020 got closer and closer, I had already decided I would not be voting for Trump again because I was absolutely embarrassed at the way he handled Covid and the way he spoke about women, people of color, and the people in Charlottesville, Virginia, living two hours south of there, I can assure him there were no good people on both sides. There were good people on one side, and it was unfortunate that he chose those words. The more I learned about his association with Jeffrey Epstein, the more I knew he was the wrong choice to lead the country.
“And then January 6th happened. As someone who spent 20 years of her life defending the Constitution, I defended it under presidents I didn’t particularly care for. I didn’t agree with, but I did my job because that’s what it means to be a patriot. It does not mean go throw a fit and put a noose on the grounds of the United States Capitol because you didn’t get your way.
“60 out of 61 lawsuits were thrown out for lack of substance, meaning there was not enough evidence to prove any sort of wrongdoing at all, any sort of election fraud at all. Calling and threatening the Secretary of State for the State of Georgia, Brad Raffensperger because you wanted to win Georgia. This lie was perpetrated for weeks before January 6th.
“It began immediately and it was planned. Having read the January 6th report, I am convinced that this was planned all along that had he won, it wouldn’t have been an issue, but because he lost, that’s when his plan went into action
“I cannot in good conscience vote for anyone who would threaten to suspend the constitution, be a dictator, even on day one, or not follow the rule of law. In addition, the fact that the new Republican party claims to be the party of law and yet pulls things like the riots at the Capitol where they beat law enforcement officers with anything they could get a hold of.
“Causing traumatic brain injuries so horrible that he ended up taking his life nine days later. That was disgusting, and it was embarrassing, and it was unacceptable. And the president at the time sat there for 187 minutes in silence watching it unfold. So I will not support Trump.
“I will be voting for Harris and Walz in 2024 because I honestly feel that they’re a better choice for this country.”
