“I don’t think Trump has any respect for any laws, let alone the supreme law of the land, the Constitution.”
“I am Phil from the District of Columbia. I voted for Trump in 2016 and 2020. I’ll absolutely not and cannot vote for him in 2024. I have always voted for Republicans to show support for the party and its policies, and that’s why I voted for Trump in 2016 and 2020.
“I recently heard Trump proclaim that his four years in office were among the greatest in US history, and that he is one of the best presidents ever. If he really believes what he says, he is both ignorant and delusional and should not be trusted with the awesome responsibilities of the presidency a second time, especially when his actions will not be tempered by the possibility of yet another term.
“He displays his vindictiveness against anybody who does not support him a hundred percent, regardless of what he says or does. While in office, he threatened to withhold support from Ukraine, then under daily threat if not actual attack, by Russia. He expresses unabashed admiration for dictators such as his North Korean boyfriend and his good friends, KGB Putin, and his Chinese counterpart.
“His four years in the White House were not noted by many accomplishments. Trump also set new records for spending, increased the size of the bureaucracy, and maybe most important, diminished Americans’ faith in the integrity and effectiveness of the government. He’s already said that he would seek retribution against his political enemies. He jokingly said, ‘I’ll be a dictator for day one,’ but I think in fact he would use the bureaucracy, Department of Justice, and other agencies to go against his political enemies. He would seek revenge. Of course while all this is going on, the important work of the country is not being addressed. I think he actually is jealous because he would like to be a dictator, but we just don’t have that kind of system here yet.
“He avoided military service dishonestly. It’s just disgusting. I was in Vietnam. I didn’t want to go, but I went. I’m proud. At least I can look at myself in the mirror and not be ashamed. He can’t accept defeat. He has to be the smartest, biggest, the best, the most successful. Never wrong. Have you ever heard Trump ever say anything remotely like, ‘I made a mistake?’ Never. Not once. We need somebody with a little bit of humility. Somebody who’s willing to take responsibility. Trump once posted on social media, they thought terminating the Constitution could be a way to fix the stolen election. I don’t think Trump has any respect for any laws, let alone the supreme law of the land, the Constitution.”
