“My opinion of Donald Trump has changed.”

Video Transcript

“My name is Phil. I live in Daytona Beach Shores, Florida. I’m a two-time voter for Donald Trump in both 2016 and 2020. What brought me to vote for Donald Trump is the fact that I always leaned towards the Republican party. I like the fact that Donald Trump was not of the Washington political heritage. He brought a business perspective to the presidency with his background in business. And I liked some of the plans that Donald Trump had for leading the country forward.

“My opinion of Donald Trump has changed due to the fact that he tried very hard to hang on to the presidency when it became obvious to the entire country that the election was won by Joe Biden. And with the insurrection on January the sixth, Donald Trump could have done more to prevent the damage and the attack on our Capitol as opposed to sitting back and basically, in my opinion, encouraging them to do whatever it took to keep Donald Trump in office.

“In 2024, I will not be voting for Donald Trump. The reason is the actions that he took at the end of his first term with the January 6th insurrection and his failure to prevent that from happening. His failure to accept the election, you know, and Joe Biden as a president and the divisiveness that he has brought to our country with some of his extreme, you know, constituency that I just don’t think is good for the Republican Party or the country.

“As far as who I would vote for, at this point, I don’t have an answer to that question. I hope against, you know, maybe all hopes that, that somebody else rises to the top either because Donald Trump is excluded from running, or a better candidate even within the Democratic Party, comes to surface other than Joe Biden.”
