“He intimidates, cheats, he lies and steals. He’s completely unpredictable and untrustworthy.”
“My name is Ruth and I live in Michigan. I’m a 74-year-old, moderate conservative, a Christ follower, a lifelong Republican. I have always voted Republican, mostly because I’m strongly pro-life. For that reason, I voted for Mr. Trump in 2016, but over the course of his four-year term, I became increasingly concerned about the direction of his leadership.
“In addition, I am more and more troubled about the pathway the Republican party has chosen. The far right, as it is known, is anything but right in either practice or policy. Way off base in most of what they stand for and what they and their leader, Mr. Trump, state to be their goals. It seems to focus mainly on using disinformation and underhanded methods to disparage its opponents and inflate itself. I strongly disagree with the policies the Republican party is leaning toward. Giving tax breaks to the wealthy while cutting social security and Medicare and other essential social programs, suppressing voters’ rights, breaking ties with allies while cozying up to evil tyrants, deliberately tossing aside our cherished democracy and undermining current foreign policy as well as many other positions Mr. Trump takes.
“The current Republican party applauds, embraces, and follows a man rather than standing on principles. It is driven by and loyal at all costs to Donald Trump, following him blindly despite the fact that he is arrogant and egotistical, an adulterer, brash, and self-consumed, and he shows utter disdain toward women and those of other races. He intimidates, cheats, he lies and steals. He’s completely unpredictable and untrustworthy. He uses God’s sacred name only when advantageous to himself. He makes absurd statements, takes outrageous positions, and he flip-flops on issues, causing me grave concern about the decisions he would make in the Oval Office. He has no tolerance for anyone who disagrees with him, treating them with disdain and retribution. He seems to have sold himself to the demons of lust and greed and power, and truly his life in no way portrays the Christlike principles he says he alone is able to return to our nation. The words truth and Trump are conflicting terms. I believe that this, along with the coarse nature of his language and behavior, make him completely unqualified to be our nation’s next president. And so because of these concerns and my deep faith, I will not vote for Mr. Trump or anyone else on the ballot who supports him.”
