“If there is a candidate that does not stand for all Americans, then how can that person really make America great?”
“Todd Steenbergen, I’m from Kentucky, and I voted in the 2016 election for Donald Trump. Over the course of the next four years of his administration, I realized that I regretted my vote for Mr. Trump, especially when the pandemic hit and I felt his leadership was lacking. When there was social unrest in many of our cities across the country, I felt his leadership was lacking. And thus I did not vote for him in the 2020 election. And I will not vote for him in the 2024 election.
“It concerns me that Trump is running with remarks that seem to suggest that the Constitution is not important in regards to the fact that he will be a dictator on day one, in regards to the fact that he will take revenge upon a number of officials, previous folks in his previous administration, and others, that just concerns me. And we have to take those kinds of things seriously. We need to realize that he’s not making these comments just as a joke. His remarks in regards to Putin and the Ukrainian invasion that has been happening, and the war there, his meeting with Viktor Orbán is very concerning, should be very concerning.
“January 6th came and we saw what he did. And no, that was not a group of tourists just wanting to visit the Capitol and have their voice heard. They were wanting to have their voice heard in a pretty violent way, in my view. And it just disturbed me greatly that that could be happening. I think that it’s time that we really take seriously the character of an individual that we’re going to vote to be president of the United States.
“I really don’t feel the leadership of the Republican party today represents the same values that Ronald Reagan did. I have to consider the person of Donald Trump as being someone that is detrimental to the vision of the Founding Fathers. I have to really consider the fact that if there is a candidate that does not stand for all Americans, then how can that person really make America great?
“Therefore, I will not be voting for Donald Trump in the 2024 election. My support will go to Mr. Biden. President Biden has had a difficult time as president with many voices, and to see the current House leadership bending over backwards over the past couple of years to, in my view, bow down to Mr. Trump, it has been a difficult challenge to President Biden, yet I feel he has handled it with grace.”
