“There are key issues, such as democracy, that are bigger than any one candidate or any one policy disagreement.”

“I am Cameron from Minnesota. I was raised Republican and I supported Trump in 2016. I voted for him in 2020, the first year I was old enough to vote, but I regretted that vote within 24 hours when he falsely claimed victory on election night. I spent the next two months debunking fraud claims from friends and family even though I was still a Republican and a conservative on nearly every policy issue. I found that I was on the outside looking in on the party due to that one difference. This culminated in January 6th and the attack on the Capitol and I knew I could never vote for Trump again.

“I had thought that the Republican Party would reject him as well, but it seems clear now that they have not. I was a Haley supporter, but now I’m going to vote for Biden. There are key issues, such as democracy, that are bigger than any one candidate or any one policy disagreement. I’m a Reagan conservative on foreign policy, on Ukraine. Trump has said that he had encouraged Russia to attack NATO allies, he’s supporting autocrats like Victor Orbán, and I just can’t put any policy disagreements above fundamental American principles like that.”
