Rainer  /  Texas

“I will not be voting for any MAGA candidates again.”

Video Transcript

“Hi, my name’s Rainer. I live in Dallas, Texas. I have been a Republican since I turned 18, about 40 years ago.

“I will not be voting for Donald Trump this year, even though I have in the last two presidential elections. There’s just not any reason to continue this. He has lost two midterms and a presidential election. He is not a conservative Republican, as I am.

“I have voted for every single Republican presidential nominee since I was 18 years old, but I can’t do that anymore. This is not the party I joined 40 years ago. This is not the party of Reagan. This is not the party of McCain. This is a populist ultra-right-wing party that I want nothing to do with. I don’t encourage bullies. I don’t encourage bullying, name calling, high pressure to get people to fall in line. The taking over of the RNC. The insults to our military and our veterans. The January 6th, he could have done more, come on. No matter what you think, people know, he could’ve done, he could have stopped that if wanted to, he didn’t. Should’ve never put Pence in that situation. The fact that he can’t get over that he lost the election in 2020 is absolutely embarrassing.

“The interview with Brett Baier where he just argued over it, I mean, people tried… the fact that almost everyone that’s ever worked for him has said they don’t support him. You know, I don’t know the guy personally, and there’s a lot of misinformation out there in media and politics. I get that. But if even 10% of it is true, I don’t want a thing to do with that man, and I sure as heck can’t vote for him.

“I will be voting for some Republicans down ballot, but only Republicans that are non-MAGA candidates. I will not be voting for any MAGA candidates again, ever. This is not the party I joined, and if this party does not come back to where it has been in the past, I will have to become an independent.

“Because I can no longer support this MAGA isolationism, pro-Russia, pro-dictators, populist, almost fascist status and stance of… you know, the foreign policy is completely foreign to anything the Republicans have ever had in their platform before.

“And it is because of Donald Trump. I have no reason to vote for him.”
